General Care & Storage

To help your jewellery last for years to come, we recommend removing it before swimming, showering, exercising, or coming into contact with perfumes, lotions, cosmetics, household cleaners, or other chemicals. While many of our materials are durable enough for everyday wear, limiting unnecessary exposure will help preserve both their structure and finish.

When your jewellery is not being worn, store each piece separately in a dry, enclosed space to minimize scratches and humidity. A soft cloth is all that is needed for regular maintenance and for removing the natural oils that accumulate with daily wear.

Pieces containing botanicals, concrete, resin, wood, or mixed materials should never be submerged in water. Instead, clean them gently with a dry or slightly damp cloth and allow them to dry completely before storing.

14k Gold Filled

Antique Silver & Antique Gold

Antique silver and antique gold finishes are intentionally applied to create depth, contrast, and dimension. The darker recesses and lighter raised surfaces continue to shift subtly with wear, creating a finish that becomes increasingly individual over time.

Our plated finishes combine the warmth and character of precious metals with a brass foundation, creating lightweight jewellery that is both versatile and beautiful. Every plated finish naturally softens with wear, with the rate of change varying with environment, skin chemistry, and frequency of use.

To preserve the finish, remove your jewellery before contact with water, perfumes, lotions, and chemicals. Clean gently with a soft dry cloth after wearing and avoid polishing products or chemical cleaners, as these are designed for solid metals and may remove the plated surface. Stored with care, plated jewellery develops a quiet character that reflects its journey alongside you.

Botanicals

Every botanical piece preserves a real flower or plant gathered from the land and carefully housed within a handcrafted setting. Natural variation in colour, texture, and shape is part of what makes each one unique, ensuring that no two pieces are ever exactly alike.

To maintain its beauty, wipe gently with a soft, slightly damp cloth to remove natural oils or residue. Mild soap may be used when needed, but prolonged exposure to water should always be avoided, as moisture can gradually work its way between the resin and the setting. Alcohol, acetone, harsh chemicals, and abrasive materials should never come into contact with the resin surface.

Our botanical pieces are preserved using museum-grade conservation methods and are designed to last for decades, although occasional fading may occur with prolonged exposure to heat or ultraviolet light.

Rather than replacing a piece that still has life within it, we offer a botanical renewal service. The original botanical is carefully removed, the setting is cleaned and prepared, and the piece is rehoused with a new botanical of the same variety or, when available, another botanical of your choosing. This service is available whenever the metal setting remains structurally intact and allows a beloved piece to continue being worn for years to come. Concrete, Diamond Dust & Mica Powder

Concrete brings an earthy, grounded quality to handcrafted jewellery, with natural variations in tone, texture, and subtle surface markings that make every piece distinctly its own. Some designs are finished with diamond dust or mica powder, adding a quiet brilliance that catches and reflects light while preserving the organic character of the material. The shimmer is intentionally understated, revealing itself differently as it moves through changing light.

Although sealed for protection, concrete remains porous by nature and is best kept away from prolonged moisture. Clean gently with a dry, soft cloth or, when necessary, a barely damp cloth before drying immediately. Avoid soaking, harsh chemicals, abrasive materials, and unnecessary impact, as these may compromise both the protective finish and the delicate surface details.

Concrete is an honest material that does not hide the marks of life, and some changes may become part of its story over time. Diamond dust and mica are permanently sealed within the surface, but repeated friction against rough materials or abrasive cleaners may gradually diminish their natural brilliance.

If your piece becomes chipped or damaged, we are happy to assess it individually and will always do our best to determine whether restoration is possible. Wood & Mala Beads

Our malas are intentionally strung with unsealed wood, allowing the material to absorb, breathe, and respond naturally to the hands that hold it. Over time, the natural oils from your skin deepen the tone of the wood while creating a quiet protection that is entirely your own.

Dust gently with a soft cloth and, if desired, nourish the wood with a small amount of essential oil applied with a fingertip or cloth. Water, soap, and chemical cleaners should be avoided, as they remove the natural oils that have become part of the wood through use. When stored, malas benefit from an open or breathable space that allows the material to continue responding naturally to its environment.

Malas are intended to be held, worn, travelled with, and practiced with. As the cord naturally wears over time, we offer a restringing service using your original beads whenever possible, preserving both the history and character of your piece while allowing it to continue its journey.

Our Warranty

Every piece that leaves the Forij & Fyorr studio is handcrafted with care, and we proudly stand behind the quality of our work.

Our two-year warranty covers manufacturing defects and craftsmanship failures that occur under normal wear from the date your piece is delivered. If something is not right with the construction of your jewellery, we want to know, and we will work with you to make it right.

Our warranty does not cover lost items, normal wear such as tarnishing, natural patina development, surface scratches, chipped concrete resulting from impact, fading caused by prolonged heat or ultraviolet exposure, damage resulting from improper care or chemical exposure, or modifications performed outside of our studio.

Natural variation in materials, including colour, texture, inclusions, botanical placement, and the way each material evolves over time, is part of what makes handcrafted jewellery unique and is never considered a defect.
